Depart from Arusha early in the morning and drive to Marangu Gate. After registration and briefing, begin your trek through the lush rainforest toward Mandara Hut. Along the trail, you may spot black-and-white colobus monkeys and colorful birds. Ascend from the rainforest into heath and moorland zones. The trail offers scenic views of Mawenzi Peak and the vast saddle connecting it to Kibo. Spend the day acclimatizing with a short hike to Zebra Rocks or the Mawenzi Ridge. This extra day helps your body adjust to the increasing altitude. Continue through alpine desert terrain with sweeping views. Today\u2019s hike is more demanding as you gain elevation and prepare for the summit attempt. Start your final ascent at midnight under the stars. Hike slowly past Gilman\u2019s Point and Stella Point, finally reaching Uhuru Peak \u2013 the highest point in Africa. Celebrate at the summit before descending to Kibo for rest, and then on to Horombo. Descend through moorland and rainforest to reach Marangu Gate.
